The Series Exhibition of Engineering Education in Taiwan ( I ) :
The Brief History of Engineering Education in Taiwan
Exhibition Period: since November 2016
Engineering education has been developed in Taiwan for nearly a hundred years. The talents cultivated have made great contributions to national constructions and economic development of the country. Our university, formerly Tainan Technical College, has been an important school in terms of cultivating engineers in Taiwan since the founding of Taihoku Prefectural Industrial School in 1931, playing an important role in the development of the country and the society. Thus, with the sponsorship from alumni and cooperation with other schools, the university began to collect, organize, and study the historical materials regarding the development of engineering education in various fields in Taiwan and planned to present the achievements.
This exhibition is the first of the exhibition series. At first, an overview of the general history was adopted to present the development and evolvement of engineering education in Taiwan, to help, students, and the general public to understand the development and evolvement process of engineering education in Taiwan, to provide personnel engaged in planning and education references of valuable experiences from predecessors, and to allow scholars studying changes in the history of Taiwan to look up information, find references, and cite materials. It is hoped that this exhibition can lead to more introspection and insights with depth in the historical aspect and cultural thoughtfulness.
